About Future Female Sounds
Future Female Sounds is an award-winning non-profit organization and global community, uniting over 7.000 female and gender minority DJs globally. We are on a mission to make DJ culture accessible to girls, women, and gender expansive individuals dreaming of learning how to DJ, and building their careers. We remove entry-barriers to the industry by education through our FFS DJ Workshops across several countries, and through our online DJ Academy - open and accessible to anyone in the world. Founded in Copenhagen in 2017, Future Female Sounds has since worked across 7 countries, and trained over 1.000 new DJs.
Our unique curriculum combined with our safer space practices and a women-founded and led organization, has changed the way aspiring female and gender minority DJs are entering the industry. By events, activations, advocacy, talks and conferences, Future Female Sounds is also working to change the music industry itself.
By providing a platform, and showcasing female and non-binary DJ Talent, we work as community facilitators, in order to provide more opportunities for both emerging and established talent in the electronic music scene. We work to create opportunities for local communities and DJs by partnering and collaborating with brands and organizations who share our values and vision.
We also believe that DJing as an art form has a vital role in shaping the future of young people and in increasing gender equality.
In a world where young girls and gender minorities have to actively search for role models, in spaces and fields that are typically dominated by masculinity, we provide active mentorship with a genre-fluid, open approach to music.

The FFS Scholarship is eligible for women and gender minorities based in the global south. We use the list curated each year by the United Nations' Finance Center for South-South Cooperation. As of 2023, the list includes 78 countries in all.
This scholarship is intended to help support individuals who are not living in more privileged and western societies, as well as to encourage more women of colour and BIPOC to pursue DJing as a profession.
We want to live up to our mission of making DJ culture accessible to women and gender minorities globally, and this is finally a possibility for us by creating a digital DJ Academy!
